INTERREG AIHRE PROJECT

Interreg AIHRE

Advancing renewable hydrogen
innovation

WHAT IS THE PROJECT?

Analysis and promotion of renewable hydrogen in the POCTEP region

The AIHRE project aims to establish a technological and business network to take advantage of the potential offor renewable hydrogen generation in Spain and Portugal. This network will allow the boosting of the economic potential of the POCTEP region around the renewable hydrogen value chain.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES

Promoting green hydrogen in the Spain-Portugal
Cross-Border space

AIHRE will promote collaboration between entities that are part of the green hydrogen value
chain, such as research groups, technology centerscentres and companies within the
Spain-Portugal cross-border space. The project will generate innovative tools to implement an
economy based on the potential of renewable hydrogen.

ENCOURAGE CROSS-BORDER COLLABORATION ON GREEN HYDROGEN
IMPLEMENT AN ECONOMY BASED ON THE POTENTIAL OF GREEN HYDROGEN
EFFECTIVE PROJECT MANAGEMENT
BUDGET

Interreg Spain-Portugal Program (POCTEP) 2021-2027

AIHRE has a budget of 1,511,799.44 euros, 75% co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through the Interreg VI-A Spain-Portugal (POCTEP) programme 2021-2027. The project has a duration of 36 months, starting in July 2023 and ending in June 2026.

WORKPLAN

Tools to promote the green hydrogen value chain

The promotion of the use of renewable hydrogen proposed by AIHRE will require the collaboration of the project partners from their different specialiszations.
The work plan contemplates the development of tools to analysze the viability of the
implementation of renewable hydrogen value chains and their integration into current energy scenarios.
The expected results of AIHRE are the following:

Development of knowledge and capabilities oriented to hydrogen technologies.
Generation of experimental research capabilities.
Digital tools that help boost hydrogen
Promotion of employment in the cooperation zone.
Technology and implementation of renewable hydrogen adapted to the resources and needs of the POCTEP area.
